Position Description:  You are a driver of growth for your clients and the agency through high-level client relationships, strategic marketing acumen, and agency leadership. You build, manage and grow a high-performing account service team, mentoring and advising them to lead their clients. You own client profitability, and you lead excellent client relationships. You:

  • Work with the agency to ensure we possess a superior understanding of clients’ business issues, marketing, industry, competitors and brands; and use these insights to propose solid solutions that delight the client
  • Work closely with account teams to discover and help create new business growth opportunities within the clients’ organizations
  • Understand what success looks like for each client, managing and mentoring teams appropriately
  • Oversee strategic marketing plan development for clients to create innovative ways to impact client business results
  • Attend creative presentations on major campaigns and play a critical role in selling the work
  • Are aware of major project work and provide input as needed
  • Onboard new clients and train them in the VantagePoint way of doing business
  • Are able to manage an account in the short term
  • Review estimates as needed and monitor work to help ensure profitable projects
  • Are responsible for client forecasts, revenue and margin targets
  • Are comfortable with recommending new services and justifying pricing to clients
  • Stay knowledgeable on marketing and agency service and technology trends, including analyzing and recommending any needed additions or changes
  • Commit to continuous improvement to be sure the agency and client services department continue to evolve appropriately
  • Help scale and maximize resources, including internal and external resources
  • Help recruit talent that raises the bar on superior client service
  • Onboard account managers and assist in onboarding other members of the account team
  • Are responsible for the growth and development of account teams, including all team and individual training; and you provide individual feedback and guidance related to improvements and career development
  • Ensure all activities and processes that affect clients and client services are in place and well-documented, including those involving Advantage and any other tools
  • Meet regularly with Vice President/CFO, VP Creative & Digital and department heads to discuss needed improvements operationally and to build solid working relationships between departments
  • Serve as VantagePoint account manager, providing strategic input and overseeing project management; and serve on the VantagePoint new business marcomm team

 

Required Education or Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a related course of study is required; an MBA is strongly preferred.  A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a B2B marketing/advertising agency is required, including managing a client services team.  Strong account management/account supervision experience is also a must.
